The VerkehrsVerbund OstWestfalenLippe (VVOWL) association was formed in 1995 to plan, coordinate and improve regional rail transport in the districts of Gütersloh, Herford, Lippe and Minden-Lübbecke and the city of Bielefeld. VVOWL also represents local public transport interests within “The Six” ("Der Sechser") fare area (www.dersechser.de).
VVOWL became a member of Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL) in January 2008. NWL is the umbrella organisation for the five Westphalian associations and is responsible for ordering and financing regional rail transport. This task is performed by the regional members in the context of a decentralised organisation model.
The weight and significance of one of Germany’s biggest procurers of rail services is thus effectively combined with a regional base and proximity to travellers and the public. (www.nwl.de).
The following plan shows the rail network of the four transport companies operating in the region on our behalf. The electronic timetable information will help you plan your journey.
